I think the biggest thing you can do, however, is to vacuum your carpet regularly to get up all the loose debris in the carpet. Otherwise, you’ll break them up as you tromp over them, and grind them in further to your carpet, creating stains, and making it harder to get the loose stuff out (it won’t be loose anymore!)
